Basketball Recap: Cross Trojans vs. Charleston Math & Science Riptide
The Cross Trojans scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 68-14 win over Charleston Math & Science. Cross has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 22 points or more this season.
Cross' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lauren Middleton led the charge by scoring 21 points along with six steals and five assists. Another player making a difference was Zhania Fredricks, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 steals.
Charleston Math & Science lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Dalailyn Reed, who scored three points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Peyton Webb was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Cross' victory bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Charleston Math & Science, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-18.
Cross will head out on the road to face off against the Islanders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Charleston Math & Science, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the NaviGators at 6:30 p.m.
