Basketball Recap: Southern Takes a Loss

Southern lost against Eastern back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Southern Trojans'2024 ended with a 71-57 loss against the Eastern Eagles. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (55), the Trojans still had to take the loss.

Cash Whitehead was his usual excellent self, going 9 for 12 on his way to 32 points and five rebounds for Eastern. Whitehead has become a key player for Eastern: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least 20 points, but 2-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnny Mcfarland, who posted eight points and five rebounds.

Southern is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6. As for Eastern, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.

Southern didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-51 defeat against Bishop Brossart on the 2nd. As for Eastern, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 54-49 loss against Atherton on the 29th.
