Basketball Game Preview: Eastwood Troopers vs. Franklin Cougars

Eastwood and Franklin are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The Eastwood Troopers will venture away from home to challenge the Franklin Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eastwood will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Eastwood is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Eastlake: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Eastwood blew Eastlake out of the water with a 68-30 final score. The Troopers pushed the score to 47-22 by the end of the third, a deficit the Falcons had little chance of recovering from.

Eastwood relied on the efforts of Devin Falk-Ramirez, who went 11 for 21 en route to 25 points, and Julien Falk-Ramirez, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 13 points and five steals. With that strong performance, Julien is now averaging an impressive 2 steals per game.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 57 points the game before, Franklin was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. The contest between them and Montwood didn't end well, with Franklin falling 44-26. The match marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Franklin dropped their record down to 13-12 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Eastwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.

Eastwood strolled past Franklin when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a score of 57-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eastwood since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
