Basketball Recap: Brace Syrett's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bryce Valley over Panguitch

Bryce Valley and Panguitch squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Bryce Valley had to settle for second. They took a 54-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panguitch Bobcats. The Mustangs have struggled against the Bobcats recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brace Syrett, who posted 13 points. Zaren Roberts was another key player, going 5-for-7 on his way to 11 points.

Panguitch had a senior duo take command as Daxton Miller shot 83% from the field en route to 27 points and seven rebounds and Remme Chappell went 6-for-9 to rack up 16 points along with eight boards and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Miller has scored all season.

Bryce Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 12-15. As for Panguitch, the victory was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 24-3.

Bryce Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 49-42 loss against Tabiona on the 1st. As for Panguitch, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-40 win against Rich on the 1st.
