Soccer Recap: Hickory Comes Up Short

If Hickory was feeling good fresh off their 5-1 takedown of Sharon on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hornets took a 4-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wilmington Greyhounds on Monday. Hickory were not able to make up for their defeat to Wilmington from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Hickory has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for Wilmington, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-2-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Hickory will challenge rival Slippery Rock at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Wilmington is set to face off against their familiar foe Greenville at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
