Basketball Game Preview: Mackinac Island Lakers vs. Whitefish Township Rockets

Mackinac Island is 7-1 against Whitefish Township since January of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Mackinac Island Lakers will challenge the Whitefish Township Rockets at 7:00 p.m. Mackinac Island is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Last Tuesday, Mackinac Island took a blow against Maplewood Baptist Academy, falling 79-21.

Whitefish Township kicked off their season on the road back in December of 2024 and hit a couple of potholes. They were outmatched by Bay Mills Ojibwe Charter and fell 73-39. The Rockets haven't had much luck with Bay Mills Ojibwe Charter recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Mackinac Island's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Whitefish Township, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

Everything came up roses for Mackinac Island against Whitefish Township when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 62-34 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mackinac Island since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
