The Springstead Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Nature Coast Tech Sharks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Springstead comes in on three and Nature Coast Tech on five.
On Friday, Springstead earned a 20-10 win over Cypress Creek.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Springstead to victory, but perhaps none more so than William Figueroa, who rushed for 136 yards and one TD. Another passer making a difference was Tysen Norton, who threw for 108 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten passes.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Springstead was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 252 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Springstead's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Zaihron McCullough, Lucas Bridges, and Kaleb Johns, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, Nature Coast Tech never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past Anclote 62-0. That looming 62-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Nature Coast Tech yet this season.
Nature Coast Tech's win came from a few key players Springstead will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Cashis Williams, who rushed for 58 yards and one score, and also threw for 88 yards and one TD while completing 75% of his passes. Nick Elwin was in the mix too, providing Nature Coast Tech with two touchdowns.
Nature Coast Tech's record is now 5-1. As for Springstead, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Springstead has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 151 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Nature Coast Tech struggles in that department as they've been averaging 203 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Springstead didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Nature Coast Tech when the teams last played back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 19-13 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
