Baseball Game Preview: Hoboken Redwings vs. Union City Soaring Eagles

Hoboken hasn't had much luck against Union City recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Redwings will venture away from home to square off against the Soaring Eagles. Hoboken's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Union City's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Hoboken barely beat Hudson Catholic the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Redwings were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over the Hawks on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Redwings, who have now won ten matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Union City posted their closest win since May 14, 2024 on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bloomfield, sneaking past 6-5.

Union City got a massive performance out of Jean Calderon, who went 2-for-4 with five stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those five stolen bases gave Calderon a new career-high. LJ Santiago was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.

Hoboken's record is now 13-7. As for Union City, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Hoboken suffered a grim 15-4 defeat to Union City in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Redwings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
