Football Game Preview: Mildred Eagles vs. Cross Roads Bobcats

The Mildred Eagles will square off against the Cross Roads Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mildred has three straight wins, Cross Roads has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

If Cross Roads heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Mildred took over last week. The Eagles walked away with a 28-21 victory over Carlisle on Friday.

Mildred's defense made their presence known, laying out Antonio Ibarra three times. In that department, Paxton Southard was the leader with two sacks.

Meanwhile, Cross Roads fell victim to Frankston and their airtight defense on Friday. They were dealt a 63-0 loss at the hands of the Indians. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1057th, while the Indians are ranked 305th).

Mildred's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Cross Roads, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Everything came up roses for Mildred against Cross Roads in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 50-6 victory. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bobcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
