Preview: Bella Vista Broncos vs. Lincoln Fighting Zebras
Two dominant in Mikey Simonyan and Roman Snyder are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Bella Vista Broncos will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lincoln Fighting Zebras at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Bella Vista's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Tuesday after their third straight loss. They lost to Del Oro at home by a decisive 77-60 margin. While losing is never fun, Bella Vista can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 521st, while Del Oro is ranked 25th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Simonyan, who scored 19 points. He scored a full 31.7% of Bella Vista's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Mark Otrotsyuk was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Even though they lost, Bella Vista were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Del Oro only posted 17 assists.
Meanwhile, Lincoln suffered a tough 81-55 loss at the hands of Woodcreek on Tuesday. Lincoln has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Bella Vista has fallen quite a ways from their 20-9 record last season and are now at 2-5. As for Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
