Basketball Recap: Arcata Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

After flying high against West Valley on Friday, Arcata came back down to earth. The Arcata Tigers lost to the McKinleyville Panthers on the road by a 61-45 margin on Saturday. The matchup marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

McKinleyville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Henry Turner IV, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 19 points. Turner IV continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Armstrong, who went 7 for 9 on his way to 16 points and five assists.

Arcata's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-1. As for McKinleyville, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Arcata will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Red Bluff at 7:30 p.m. As for McKinleyville, they will challenge Shasta at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in McKinleyville's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.
