Baseball Game Preview: North Kansas City Hornets vs. Park Hill South Panthers

North Kansas City is 0-4 against Park Hill South since March of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Hornets are taking a road trip to challenge the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. This will be North Kansas City's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.

North Kansas City is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Winnetonka on Monday. They fell just short of the Griffins by a score of 2-1.

Nathan Krueger was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, North Kansas City saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aaron Campos, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Drake McLaughlin also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Panthers on Thursday. Park Hill South came out on top in a nail-biter against Raymore-Peculiar, sneaking past 7-5. While Park Hill South didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Park Hill South has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for North Kansas City, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.
