League recap: Litz overpowering for Foothill in past week

Pioneer Valley league recap: 4/3/13

Foothill's Briar Litz was the best pitcher in Pioneer Valley this week. He won one game and struck out 12 batters.

Litz was on fire this week, as he led the league with a .444 average, one home run and four RBIs. Meanwhile, the Mustangs put together a 2-2 week.

Lincoln's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 13 hits and three walks to lead the league in both categories.

Although the 37 runs scored by Placer topped the league, the Fighting Zebras maintained their lead in the league with 115 runs this season.

Foothill's Skylar Roper destroyed Pioneer Valley pitching this week while leading the league in average, hits and runs batted in. Roper compiled a .562 average on nine hits and drove in six runs.

The Mustangs' Litz led the league in strikeouts this week with 12. He's first in the league with 37 total strikeouts.



Devin Eldredge was an RBI machine on Thursday, as he knocked in six runs during Center's 16-3 win over Mesa Verde. He went 3-for-3 and scored two runs.

Foothill's Litz struck out 12 Gaston hitters en route to a 12-2 victory on March 26. Over his five innings pitched he allowed one run on one hit.
