Volleyball Recap: Pikeville Now 12-3 over Last 15 Games

It was a proper cat-fight when Pikeville took on Letcher County Central on Thursday. The Panthers blew past the Cougars 3-0. This was a revenge game for the Panthers: when they faced off against the Cougars back in September, they had to take a 3-0 loss.

While Pikeville won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-15, 25-23.

Leading Pikeville to victory were Kyla Lee and Lindy Gearheart. Lee had 13 digs and 12 kills, while Gearheart had 30 assists and seven digs. Gearheart is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in each of the last 40 games she's played dating back to last season. Maria Perez was another key player, getting eight digs and four aces.

Pikeville is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for Letcher County Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-13.

As of now, neither Pikeville nor the Cougars have any future games scheduled.
