Softball Recap: Hedgesville Comes Up Short

Hedgesville lost against Pendleton County on Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Eagles fell just short of the Wildcat by a score of 11-10.

Lexie Brown was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Mayla Ortega was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Hedgesville has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Pendleton County, the win (which was their 18th in a row) raised their record to 18-1.

Hedgesville didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-4 loss against Manchester Valley on the 16th. As for Pendleton County, they have also already played their next game, a 12-4 victory against Keyser on the 12th.
