Basketball Recap: Joseph Legear's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Zion Chapel over Kinston

Zion Chapel was the 79-47 winner over Kinston when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Zion Chapel Rebels fell just short of the Kinston Bulldogs by a score of 53-50 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Rebels have suffered since November 30, 2023.

Zion Chapel lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Joseph Legear, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Legear a new career-high in boards. Brodie Stinson was another key player, putting up 14 points and six boards.

Zion Chapel's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Kinston, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-5.

Zion Chapel wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 62-42 loss against Long on the 6th. As for Kinston, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-52 defeat against McKenzie on the 9th.
