Basketball Game Preview: Marcos de Niza Padres vs. Tempe Buffaloes + Official Tickets

The Marcos de Niza Padres and the Tempe Buffaloes will compete for holiday cheer at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Marcos de Niza has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Marcos de Niza is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Cortez to the tune of 71-18 on Friday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Padres with their most commanding win of the season.

Marcos de Niza can attribute much of their success to Elyanna Carbajal, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 11 boards, and Isabella Doyle, who posted 16 points and six steals. Carbajal is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last ten games she's played dating back to last season. Khloe Redhair was another key player, putting up 12 points and four steals.

Marcos de Niza smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Tempe lost 51-25 to Goldwater on Thursday. The Buffaloes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Tempe's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Marcos de Niza, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Marcos de Niza couldn't quite finish off Tempe when the teams last played back in December of 2024 and fell 35-33. Thankfully for the Padres, Kiari Montanez-Woods (who earned 20 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
