Softball Recap: Lathrop Comes Up Short

Lathrop extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 10-10 in the process. They lost 13-3 to the Stagg Delta Kings. The Spartans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Delta Kings earlier this season, when they won 20-2.

As for Stagg, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.

For Stagg's part, Ava Rodriguez was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Rodriguez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazlyn Ramirez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Coming up, Lathrop will be playing at home against Central Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season. As for Stagg, they will head out on the road to take on Weston Ranch at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.31 runs per game on average), something the Delta Kings will no doubt try to take advantage of.
