Football Recap: Foothill Knights vs. Capistrano Valley Cougars

Foothill's last matchup with Capistrano Valley could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Friday. The Knights had to suffer through a 42-7 loss at the hands of the Cougars. The Knights were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-0.

Jake Lind threw for 89 yards on 12 of 20 attempts. Troy Naulty was his top target, picking up 40 receiving yards. On the ground, Aidan Faraj rushed for 40 yards and one TD.

Talon Spencer produced another solid performance throwing for 208 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes, and also rushing for 57 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries for Capistrano Valley. Jolan Gonzalez also helped with two TDs in total.

This is the second loss in a row for Foothill and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Capistrano Valley, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

Foothill and Capistrano Valley will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Knights see the field they'll take on Crean Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on October 4. As for Capistrano Valley, their break will end when they face Western at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
