Baseball Game Preview: More Knights vs. Summit Shasta Black Bears

For the second straight game, More will face off against Summit Shasta. The Knights will square off against the Black Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. More is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

While More's victory against Summit Shasta wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Knights sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Black Bears on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Knights have posted against the Black Bears since March 30, 2022.

Sean Selway spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up ten Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because More is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-7 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Quentin Vogel, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Zep Cortese was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

More's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Summit Shasta, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 9-9.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. More has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game.
