Baseball Recap: Port Jervis Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Losses at Home

There's no place like home for Port Jervis, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They put the hurt on the Liberty Indians with a sharp 11-0 win on Tuesday. The Raiders not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 25th (when they won 12-0).

Shaun Misczuk made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. He has become a key player for Port Jervis: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 5-9 otherwise. Misczuk was also big at the plate, earning one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Kevin Mesnick was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Port Jervis is 5-1 when Mesnick posts two or more runs, but 2-9 otherwise. Joseph Olenick was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Port Jervis' victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-10. As for Liberty, they dropped their record down to 0-11 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Port Jervis didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 7-1 loss against Marlboro Central on the 26th. As for Liberty, they will host Tri-Valley at 4:30 p.m. on the 29th.
