Softball Recap: Antigo Find Success

Antigo lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Lakeland, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's contest. The Red Robins came out on top against the Thunderbirds on Thursday by a score of 6-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Red Robins were shut out 2-0 the last time they took on the Thunderbirds, so the Red Robins were just returning the favor.

Not much got past Bethany Lewis, who gave up just six hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Lakeland off the board. Lewis has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Antigo saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Baily Heinzen, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. Ava Cornelious also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

The win got Antigo back to even at 3-3. As for Lakeland, they moved to 6-2 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Antigo is set to face off against their familiar foe Tomahawk at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Lakeland will take on rival Northland Pines at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
