Basketball Recap: Manti Takes a Loss

Manti lost against Richfield back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Manti Templars fell 50-41 to the Richfield Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Templars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Wildcats are ranked 23rd).

Despite the loss, Manti still got an impressive performance from Dax Anderson, who went 8 of 17 on his way to 19 points and six steals. Anderson has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Carter Mason, who posted eight points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

Richfield got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gage Yardley out in front who scored 14 points along with five assists and five boards. Jorgen Southwick was another key player, putting up ten points and five rebounds.

Manti's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Richfield, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manti will welcome Canyon View at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Manti is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.3 points per game this season. As for Richfield, they will be playing at home against Emery at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Emery will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Richfield surely won't give up without a fight.
