Basketball Game Preview: Severn School Admirals vs. Mount de Sales Academy Sailors

Severn School hasn't had much luck against Mount de Sales Academy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Severn School Admirals are taking a road trip to challenge the Mount de Sales Academy Sailors at 5:30 p.m. Severn School has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Severn School is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They put the hurt on Indian Creek with a sharp 62-41 win. The Admirals haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mount de Sales Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with a 41-28 win over Gerstell Academy on Monday. Given the Sailors 's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while Gerstell Academy are ranked 153rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Severn School better focus on containing Shelby Lewis and Mackenzie Conley as the pair were huge in Mount de Sales Academy's win. Lewis dropped a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Conley went 5 for 9 to rack up 13 points and seven steals. What's more, Conley also posted a 56% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Ella Powers, who posted four points and six steals.

Severn School's record now sits at 16-6. As for Mount de Sales Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 18 games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season.

Severn School came out on top in a nail-biter against Mount de Sales Academy in their previous meeting on Friday, sneaking past 48-45. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Lewis, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and ten boards.
