Softball Recap: Whitnall Triumphs

The Whitnall Falcons earned a 7-3 victory over the Milton Red Hawks on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.

Lucy Gelhar and Sienna Malone did most of the damage at the plate: Gelhar went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run, while Malone went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave Malone a new career-high. Samantha Davis was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Whitnall hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive contests.

Whitnall's record now sits at 19-6. As for Milton, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Whitnall will square off against Brookfield East at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. As for Milton, they will venture away from home to take on Oregon at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Hawks are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
