Baseball Recap: Medina Valley Gets the Win

Medina Valley's tournament run continued when they took on Churchill on Friday. The Medina Valley Panthers had just enough and edged out the Churchill Chargers 6-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Jake Phillips made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Phillips was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.

In other batting news, Brody Ripps was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Michael Newton also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Medina Valley's record is now 7-1. As for Churchill, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Looking ahead, Medina Valley will venture away from home to challenge Smithson Valley at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Medina Valley 2.5, Smithson Valley 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Churchill, they will head out on the road to face off against Stevens at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Churchill is facing Stevens at the right time seeing as Stevens is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
