Basketball Recap: Smithson Valley Takes a Loss

Smithson Valley lost against Tivy back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Smithson Valley Rangers came up short against the Tivy Antlers, falling 63-41. While losing is never fun, the Rangers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 538th, while the Antlers are ranked 180th).

When it comes to explaining why Smithson Valley lost, don't look at Cyanna Cavazos. Despite the final result, she posted 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabelle DiMery, who had six points.

Smithson Valley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season. As for Tivy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-8.

Smithson Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 47-32 defeat against Veterans Memorial on the 3rd. Tivy has also already played their next matchup, a 59-49 win against Boerne-Champion on the 3rd.
