Baseball Recap: Evansville Harrison Find Success

Evansville Harrison took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against South Spencer, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Warriors came out on top in a nail-biter against the Rebels on Monday, sneaking past 9-8. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 14-4 win the Rebels walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2017.

Easton Jahn looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has become a key player for Evansville Harrison: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-17 otherwise.

At the plate, Evansville Harrison let Hayden Barnes and Darien Matos Romero run wild. Barnes went 3-for-5 with two triples, three RBI, and one run, while Matos Romero got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and two runs. That's the most RBI Barnes has posted since back in April. Evansville Harrison's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-18. As for South Spencer, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.

Evansville Harrison and South Spencer are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Warriors will challenge Evansville Reitz at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Evansville Harrison is facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for South Spencer, they will square off against Tell City at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
