Basketball Recap: Jack Edlund's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Stanwood over Everett

Stanwood lost against Everett back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Stanwood Spartans lost to the Everett Seagulls on the road by a 60-46 margin. While the Spartans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Seagulls 20-12 in the first quarter.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jack Edlund, who went 6 for 12 en route to 16 points and eight rebounds. Rece Green also deserves some recognition as he posted his first blocks of the season.

Everett's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Parker, who went 7 of 16 on his way to 16 points along with eight boards and three steals. Parker has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played. Noah Owens was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Stanwood and nudges their season record down to 4-12. As for Everett, their record is now 7-9.

Stanwood and Everett could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings. Stanwood (ranked 223rd) will meet Marysville Getchell (ranked 70th) at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Everett will square off against Monroe at 8:00 p.m. on Friday down 124 places (174 vs. 50).
