Softball Recap: Carmichaels Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

Carmichaels barely beat West Greene the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mighty Mikes were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Pioneers on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Mighty Mikes in their matchups with the Pioneers: they've now won six in a row.

Bailey Barnyak made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Carys McConnell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Ashton Batis was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Carmichaels kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Greene only managed four hits.

Carmichaels pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for West Greene, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 7-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Carmichaels is set to square off against their familiar foe Bethlehem Center at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, West Greene will face off against rival Jefferson-Morgan at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Pioneers 2.1, the Rockets 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
