Volleyball Recap: Marquette Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Jackson

Marquette faced Jackson in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Mustangs fell 2-0 to the Fighting Indians. The Mustangs were not able to make up for their loss to the Fighting Indians from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Teagan Pocius paced Marquette's offense, picking up six kills. Pocius got some help from Maggie Smith and her nine assists.

Marquette has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-16 record this season. As for Jackson, the victory was the 23rd in a row for them, bringing their record up to 33-1.

Coincidentally, Marquette and Jackson will both be playing Incarnate Word Academy the next time they take the court. The Mustangs will head out to face the Red Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Fighting Indians will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
