Softball Recap: Mid-Carolina Starts Season with Loss at Home

Mid-Carolina unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 13-9 to the Dutch Fork Silver Foxes on Tuesday.

Savannah Moore and Gabi Riddle put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Moore pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Riddle tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. At the plate, Moore scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Riddle scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Moore a new career-high in hits (three).

In other batting news, Jordyn Marsh was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Nora Cutler was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mid-Carolina will square off against Pelion at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dutch Fork, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Spring Valley at 7:00 p.m. on February 25th.
