Volleyball Game Preview: Spring Creek Spartans vs. Churchill County Greenwave

After both having extra time off, the Spring Creek Spartans and the Churchill County Greenwave will shake off the rust and duke it out at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Spring Creek has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight losses, while Churchill County will come in with four straight victories.

Spring Creek lost 3-0 to Fernley on Saturday.

Spring Creek was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-21, 29-27.

Meanwhile, Churchill County got the win against Lowry on Friday by a conclusive 3-0.

Churchill County walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the third set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-17, 25-9.

Churchill County's win came from a few key players Spring Creek will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Destinee Tapia, who had five digs and three aces.

Churchill County was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces in three consecutive matches.

Churchill County's record now sits at 19-9. As for Spring Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-15.

Spring Creek suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Churchill County in their previous matchup on October 2nd. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
