Basketball Game Preview: Boerne Greyhounds vs. Smithson Valley Rangers

The Boerne Greyhounds are taking a road trip to face off against the Smithson Valley Rangers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Smithson Valley took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Boerne, who comes in off a win.

Boerne took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 53-42 victory over Veterans Memorial. The win was all the more spectacular given the Greyhounds' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 285th, while the Patriots are ranked 138th).

Meanwhile, Smithson Valley came up short against Alamo Heights on Tuesday and fell 62-51.

The victory snapped Boerne's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-9 record. As for Smithson Valley, they now have a losing record at 9-10.

Boerne barely slipped by Smithson Valley when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 48-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Boerne since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
