Recap: Edgewood Red Wolves vs. Odyssey Charter School Titans

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Edgewood Red Wolves had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 54-8 win over the Titans on the road. Edgewood has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Edgewood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shelby Preble led the charge by scoring six points along with 13 steals and five assists. Preble is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alaina Preble, who scored 11 points along with two steals.

Despite the loss, Odyssey Charter School saw an underclassman step up: Reese Florin scored no points along with five rebounds and three steals. Florin has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last five times she's played.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Odyssey Charter School struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Edgewood pulled down ten offensive rebounds.

The win was the seventh in a row for Edgewood, bringing their record for this year to 20-5. As for Odyssey Charter School, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season.

Edgewood will take on Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Edgewood's defense has only allowed 29 points per game this season, so Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them. Odyssey Charter School does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
