Basketball Recap: Forest Hills' Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

It was a good run, but Forest Hills unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Monday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 55-54 to the Bowne Wildcats. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Rangers came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Wildcats are ranked 552nd).

Bowne's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Donte Cromwell, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Cromwell is becoming a predictor of Bowne's success: when he posts at least ten boards the team is undefeated (and 3-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Devin Harris, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Forest Hills' defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 13-3. As for Bowne, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-8.

Forest Hills does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bowne, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Eagle Academy II at 3:30 p.m. on February 21st.
