Basketball Game Preview: Central Hawks vs. Crawford County Eagles

It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Central Hawks face off against the Crawford County Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday... Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Saturday, Central came up short against Taylor County and fell 67-60. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while the Vikings are ranked 167th).

Despite the loss, Central had strong showings from Sema J Copeland, who posted 25 points, and Brandon Bussey, who earned 18 points. That's the most points Bussey has posted since back in November of 2024. Demarcus White was another key player, putting up seven points.

Meanwhile, Crawford County was fully in charge on Saturday, breezing past Furlow Charter School 68-30.

Central has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season. As for Crawford County, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-15.

Central beat Crawford County 63-55 in their previous meeting back in January. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Crawford County's Mareo Slaton, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 16 rebounds.
