Basketball Recap: Jarrod Chaney Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Millry

Choctaw County proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 28) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Millry Wildcats 49-47. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Wildcats two weeks ago, they had to take a 42-24 defeat.

Choctaw County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jarrod Chaney, who went 7 of 13 en route to 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daylen Blakley, who went 6 for 15 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Millry lost, don't look at Jquan Stewart. Despite the final result, he posted 17 points. Landon Doggette was another key player, putting up eight points.

Choctaw County's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Millry, they dropped their record down to 2-2 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Choctaw County will head out to square off against Southern Choctaw at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Southern Choctaw will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Choctaw County surely won't give up without a fight. As for Millry, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 39-32 win against St. Luke's Episcopal on the 19th.
