Football Recap: Highland Home Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Highland Home was the 53-21 winner over Goshen when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Flying Squadron took a 38-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles on Friday. The Flying Squadron gained 133 more yards on the day, but it was the Eagles that made the best use of them.

When it comes to explaining why Highland Home lost, don't look at Brody Phillips. Despite the final result, he rushed for 182 yards and two scores on only nine carries, and also picked up 32 receiving yards and one TD. Phillips' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 120 rushing yards.

Jaylon Vinson had an outrageously good game for Goshen as he rushed for 83 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 19 yards and one TD.

Highland Home's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-3. As for Goshen, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highland Home will host Brantley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Flying Squadron will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.25 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Goshen, they will be playing at home against Elba at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 46.6 points per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
