Softball Game Preview: University Neighborhood Panthers vs. Manhattan Village Academy Silver Hawks

The University Neighborhood Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Manhattan Village Academy Silver Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. University Neighborhood has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with three straight losses, while Manhattan Village Academy will come in with six straight victories.

Friday just wasn't the day for University Neighborhood's offense. They came up short against NEST+m on Friday, falling 13-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Manhattan Village Academy hadn't done well against Baruch College recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Silver Hawks put the hurt on the Blue Devils Bearcats with a sharp 11-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Silver Hawks, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Manhattan Village Academy pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for University Neighborhood, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

University Neighborhood suffered a grim 32-12 defeat to Manhattan Village Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2018. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
