Basketball Recap: Gateway Takes a Loss

If Gateway was feeling good fresh off their 100-46 takedown of Burton last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Gators took a blow against the Piedmont Highlanders on Saturday, falling 84-50. The defeat continues a trend for the Gators in their meetings with the Highlanders: they've now lost four in a row.

Gateway lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Armando Sarte Jr, who posted 13 points. He has also also been stellar as far as field goal percentage is concerned: he's posted one of at least 50% every time he's hit the court this season. Wyatt Grundland-Lanuza was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Gateway's loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Gateway is headed away from home for the first time to face off against Marin Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Piedmont, they will host Envision Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Piedmont will be up against Envision Academy's rather soft defense (which has allowed 59.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
