Baseball Game Recap: Strayhorn Mustangs vs. Biggersville Lions

Strayhorn had lost three straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 10-16 to make it four. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 15-5 to the Biggersville Lions, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Lions this season, with their most recent defeat being a 15-5 loss on Friday.

As for Biggersville, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-15-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games.

For Biggersville's part, Case Hilliard made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Hilliard was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. Biggersville is undefeated when Hilliard posts two or more runs, but 4-15-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, Jaden Clifton was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Biggersville: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 10-15-1 otherwise. Dillon Johnson was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Biggersville beat Strayhorn by a score of 7-6 on Monday.
