Softball Recap: Bellevue Takes a Loss

Bellevue extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-4 in the process. They lost 16-3 to the Burr Oak Bobcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Broncos of the 16-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.

As for Burr Oak, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-2. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

For Burr Oak's part, Elaine Holtom and Inez Ultz did most of the damage at the plate: Holtom went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple, while Ultz went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those runs marked the first that Ultz has scored this season. Makaila Whittington was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.

While Bellevue had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
