Baseball Game Preview: San Angelo HomeSchool Saints vs. Christoval Cougars

The San Angelo HomeSchool Saints will head out to challenge the Christoval Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. San Angelo HomeSchool has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

San Angelo HomeSchool saw some tournament action on Thursday. They came up short against East Texas Homeschool Sports, falling 18-1. The Saints have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Christoval had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Tuesday. They blew past the Broncos 12-1. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Christoval got a big performance out of Blaze Webber, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. The Cougars are 8-2 when Webber posts two or more runs, but 3-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Tucker Boness, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

Christoval was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are 7-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Christoval pushed their record up to 11-7 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for San Angelo HomeSchool, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.

San Angelo HomeSchool might still be hurting after the 17-11 loss they got from Christoval in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Saints avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
