Basketball Recap: Western Brown Piles Up the Points Against New Richmond

Western Brown had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They breezed by the New Richmond Lions to the tune of 65-29. Given the Broncos' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 261st, while the Lions are ranked 670th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Western Brown to victory, but perhaps none more so than J Jenike, who posted 14 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Madilyn Ruby, who went 6 for 10 en route to 13 points and three steals.

Western Brown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Western Brown has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for New Richmond, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Western Brown will square off against Chillicothe at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for New Richmond, they will challenge Clermont Northeastern at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
