Baseball Recap: Johnstown-Monroe Gets the Win

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Johnstown-Monroe and Bishop Hartley meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Johnnies walked away with a 10-6 win over the Hawks. For the Johnnies, this counts as revenge for the 8-3 victory the Hawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2018.

Braeden Archibald made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Archibald was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Carter Holbrook was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Landon Myers was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Johnstown-Monroe's record is now 2-0. As for Bishop Hartley, their loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3.

Johnstown-Monroe didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 8-5 defeat against Heath on the 7th. As for Bishop Hartley, they have also already played their next contest, a 5-1 loss against Thomas Worthington on the 2nd.
