Soccer Game Preview: Clayton vs. Kirkwood

Clayton hasn't had much luck against Kirkwood recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Greyhounds will head out on the road to face off against the Pioneers at 4:15 p.m. Both teams beat their previous opponents by a single goal, so this matchup might be just as contested.

Clayton took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Fox.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Kirkwood and Lindbergh, and Kirkwood kept the tradition alive. The Pioneers had just enough and edged out the Flyers 3-2 on Thursday.

Kirkwood now has a winning record of 8-7-1. As for Clayton, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-8-1 record this season.

Clayton might still be hurting after the 4-1 defeat they got from Kirkwood in their previous matchup back in May of 2017. Can the Greyhounds avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
