Baseball Recap: Windsor Wizards vs. Thompson Valley Eagles
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Windsor had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Thompson Valley Eagles. Winning may never get old, but Windsor sure is getting used to it with their 13th in a row.
Grant Kerber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive pitching appearances.
On the hitting side, Rylen Renton was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with a home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Easton Hubbard, who went 1-for-3 with a triple, a run, and an RBI.
On Thompson Valley's side, Riley Suarez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with a home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Raabe, who went 1-for-4 with a triple and a run.
Windsor has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 24-2 record this season. As for Thompson Valley, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-7.
