Baseball Game Preview: Rector Cougars vs. Bay Yellowjackets

The Rector Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Bay Yellowjackets at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Rector fell victim to Cross County and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Thunderbirds, falling 13-0. The Cougars just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Meanwhile, Bay was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 16-1 to Cross County.

Bay saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Willard, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Willard hit this season.

Rector's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Bay, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Everything went Rector's way against Bay when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Rector made off with an 11-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
