Baseball Game Preview: Flat Rock Rams vs. Jefferson Bears

Flat Rock is 8-2 against Jefferson since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Rams will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bears at 8:00 p.m. Flat Rock will be looking to extend their current 15-game winning streak.

Flat Rock's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on St. Mary Catholic Central with a sharp 9-0 victory. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Mikey Giroux, who gave up just four hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep St. Mary Catholic Central off the board. Giroux has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jayden Yancy, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jordan Godfrey, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Jefferson's offense. They came up short against Huron on Monday, falling 11-0.

Flat Rock pushed their record up to 21-4 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Jefferson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-17 record this season.

Flat Rock came out on top in a nail-biter against Jefferson in their previous meeting back in April, sneaking past 6-4. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
